After a five-month nationwide strike, the Academic Staff
Union of Universities (ASUU) will today meet at the Federal University
of Technology (FUT), Minna, Niger State, to decide on when to resume
classes.
All chairmen of local chapters of the union, the zonal coordinators and past leaders have been invited for the meeting.
The lecturers, it was learnt, may also use the session to design how to cover the lost grounds for students.
The Federal Government and ASUU reached a compromise during a
negotiation brokered by the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress
(NLC) Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar.
A source said: "We have been communicated that ASUU may likely hold a
National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Monday at FUT Minna to take
a final decision on the strike action.
"The meeting is going to be a formality because ASUU leadership has
signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Government.
"ASUU's National President Dr. Nasir Fagge said the union's NEC would meet and revert to the Federal Government within a week.
"We will use the meeting to make the MoU available to all the
branches and design modalities for monitoring the implementation of the
agreement.
"The union will also design ways to cover up for missed lectures by
students in such a manner that it would not affect academic standards in
all universities."
The source noted that the NEC meeting was required, in line with the
constitution of the union, because Dr Fagge could not unilaterally call
off the strike.

PDP CRISIS: APC Reacts With Joy, Slams Jonathan's Administration
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (PDP) has expressed joy over the internal crisis rocking the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Following the 18-page letter written by former president Olusegun Obasanjo to president Jonathan, highlighting the corruption in Jonathan's administration, APC has said the PDP has misruled the country for the past 14 years.
In a statement on Sunday by its Interim Publicity
Secretary, Joe Igbokwe, the APC berated the PDP-led Federal Government
for the "stealing of the nation's oil, the stealing of $50bn from the
nation's receipts from oil, the plundering of the excess crude accounts,
the depleting of the nation's foreign reserves, the looting of N500bn
from the SURE-P fund and dubious import waivers."
UNBELIEVABLE: 60-Year-Old Man Caught Having Sex With 11-Year-Old Girl Avoids Jail Because Court Says The Couple Are In Love
A 60-year-old man who was caught having sex with an 11-year-old girl would not be completing his 5-year sentence because the court thinks the couple are in love.
The supreme court in Catanzaro, Italy, annulled a five-year jail term and ruled that it was a 'real relationship.'
The young girl is said to be from a disadvantaged background and was in the care of a man who works for the town's social services department.
However, police raided the man's seaside villa to find the pair naked in bed together.
The man was earlier jailed for 5 years for sexual violence against a minor. However the child has now claimed that she is in love with the elderly man so the court ruled the pair have a 'romantic relationship'.
The case is being sent back to the Catanzaro court for a retrial and there are expected to be several levels of appeal before a sentence is confirmed.

PHOTO: Angel Appear During Worship In Redeemed Church
Strange things are really happening these days. It is left for you to believe them or doubt...
According to the story, a Lagos-based Christian band, The Perfected Praise Singers, were doing their thing at a Redeemed Church branch in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, and some people were taking pictures with their Ipads as the praise and worship went on inside the church.
A young boy used his parent Ipad to take pictures too and when they got home the picture above of an Angel was among the clips they saw in the Ipad. Wow! If this is true, then you all need to be careful when next you are in church, especially during praise and worship session. You never know who could be around.
This Pastor Disguised As Destitute to His Church and Members Refused To Help Him
When I was growing up in the 80s in Nigeria, the church is where you go when you need help, love and any and every kind of assistance. Guess what? You'll get the attention of the big people (Pastors and assistance) as that is their purpose - to help the vulnerable and needy, as observed.
But what do we get these days? Pastors competing with themselves over who has the best suits, the best cars and, in recent times, who enjoy more beautiful girls in the "Pastoral Cure Unit". Now the mess has spread to church members, many are living the artificial life rather than be of help to their neighbour.
Below is what happened to this pastor who disguised as a destitute to his church:

Obama Highly Criticized Over Selfie Taken At Madiba's Memorial
An unexpected handshake. A selfie. A seat change.
First, Obama shook hands with Cuban President Raul Castro as the U.S. president approached the podium at the soccer stadium to address Mandela's mourners.
The brief exchange, captured on video and photographs, sparked an immediate reaction online and on TV, with cable news pundits and Twitter users debating the significance of warmth shown between leaders of countries that have not had formal diplomatic relations since 1959.President Barack Obama's gestures at Nelson Mandela's memorial service in Johannesburg were widely scrutinized on the world's stage Tuesday.
The handshake also drew some sharp GOP criticism. Sen. John McCain likened it to shaking hands with Adolf Hitler.

11-Year-Old Boy Stops Traffic To Rescue Dog Hit By Car (PHOTOS)

For example, 11-year-old Jean Fernandes, a brave boy from Brazil, recently risked his life to save a dog that had been hit by a car in ItajaĂ, according to Brazilian news site Guarda-Sol.

REVEALED: How I Raped A 12-Yr-Old To Death Through Her Anus (PHOTO)
The Police in Imo State, recently, rounded up the brain behind the death of a 12-year-old girl, Ifunanya Favour Iberi who was declared wanted two months ago by arresting a 34-year-old man identified as Samuel Chukwunyere.
Police alleged that the suspect was responsible for raping the teenager to death and dumping her lifeless body in a deep well.
The missing little Ifunanya was last seen by members of her family on Sunday, October 13, 2013, when she could not return to their house after her day's routine activities. Apparently worried by the scaring development, her parents immediately alerted the Imo State Police Command. Their passionate appeal to the Commissioner of Police, Katsina was very simple. "You must please, assist us find our missing daughter."
Search for suspects
Seeing the depth of grief boldly written on the faces of Ifunanya's parents, the Imo State police boss assured them of his determination to get to the root of the matter.
Katsina mobilized his men and went after the fleeing criminal. Not long after, a 34-year old artisan from Amaenyi, Nkwerre, Chukwunyere, who lives at Umulolo village, where the missing girl hailed from, was apprehended. This man quickly fled the community when he noticed that he was being linked with the sudden disappearance of little Ifunanya. The suspect was rounded up few days ago by the police when he quietly returned to the village.
Confession of suspect
In an interview, the suspect confessed that he actually lured the innocent victim to his house and raped her to death. He also disclosed that he lured the girl to his place because he told her that he bought her a phone, adding as soon as they got to his house and on noticing that the place was deserted, he quickly grabbed the young girl.
His words: "I forced her. I tried to use her through her private part but my own thing could not enter. I now turned her and she started shouting. I now held her well, well. I don't want anybody to hear her voice. I now started using her through her anus. In the process of using her through the anus, she now shouted and I now held her back again, using her. In the process of using her, she now gave up."
The suspect also explained how he dumped the remains of his young victim inside a deep pit near his residence to avoid being traced by anybody. "I now asked myself how will I manage to hide the corpse of this girl. I now rock my brain and rock my brain and the shovel that I have there cannot dig the ground. This ground sef na stone ground. I cannot dig it alone. I now searched around my place here and I saw that pit there (pointing to the location of the pit) and I now say let me come and put her inside that pit, so that the place will be enough to hide it. Nobody will know. I now rolled her with some cloths. After12 to one o'clock in the midnight, I now brought her to this place and now throw her inside the pit."
He also confessed that this was not his first rape case, especially as Crime Alert gathered that several girls in the area had previously fallen victim to his nefarious act.
The State Police boss later took Crime Alert to the scene of crime where the skull of the little girl which was already severed from her body and other decomposing parts believed to be her remains were lifted from the pit, which contained greenish water.
Speaking to Crime Alert at the scene of the crime, the State Police boss explained that after committing the alleged sordid crime, the suspect threw the lifeless body of the young girl into a nearby well and vowed to bring him to book.
"His arrest and subsequent interrogation encouraged detectives to move to this place where this very horrendous spectacle was again discovered. It is a clear case of sunset at dawn. She may have gone but her soul is seriously crying for justice and this is what I will surely do," Katsina promised.
Continuing, the Imo police boss said that apart from this sordid incident, investigations also revealed that "this very suspect is a serial killer, serial rapist and is responsible for the missing and death of many of our young girls, not only in Imo State but in some parts of the country."
While describing the suspect as "an unrepentant killer", the CP also said that "the man has been involved in many reported cases of ritual-related murders since 2004 till the time he was arrested. Investigations into the matter is on-going to unmask all those behind the dastardly act. I am hoping that pathologists will equally ascertain the real cause of the death of the innocent girl."
He recalled that the police had painstakingly been on his trail for about two months since little Ifunanya was reported missing by her parents. Giving a graphic account of how the suspect was eventually apprehended, the CP explained that soon after the girl was reported missing, the suspect quietly escaped to Aba, Abia State.
"He later sneaked into Nkwerre when he thought that the search for the missing girl had died down. He was, however, wrong because the Ambush Squad of the Command quickly arrested him on getting wind of his return to base.
It is sad to note how people can be very heartless. On noticing that the innocent girl had died in the process of raping her, the suspect carefully but shamelessly threw her remains into a nearby pit."

MOST READ: Jonathan Snubbed At Mandela’s Memorial
Despite leaving Nigeria early for the funeral of late South African leader, Nelson Mandela, President Goodluck Jonathan has been snubbed by the South African authorities at the State Memorial Service of the anti-apartheid leader.
An official release of programmes during the memorial service shows that the Nigerian president was missing on the list of world leaders billed to give tributes. The world leaders who will be giving tributes are, United State President, Barack Obama; President Dilma Rousseff of Brazil; Vice-President Li Yuanchao of China; President Hifikepunye Pohamba of Namibia; President Pranab Mukherjee of India; and President RaĂşl Castro Ruz of Cuba.
Other leaders billed to give tributes are the United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon; and the African Union Commission Chair, Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma.
Though Mr. Jonathan is not the only head of state that would not give tribute- there are about 90 heads of state attending the funeral, the apparent snub handed Mr. Jonathan also appears to rubbish the enormous effort played by Nigeria to bring an end to apartheid in South Africa at a time when Western governments were pussyfooting to pressure the apartheid government to renounce its policy of segregation and its brutal abuses against the black majority.

EXCLUSIVE: Obasanjo Writes Jonathan, Accuses President Of Lying, Destroying Nigeria, Promoting Corruption
An apparently angry and frustrated ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo has written what clearly competes as one of the most acerbic letters in modern history to President Goodluck Jonathan, accusing him of ineptitude and of taking actions calculated at destroying Nigeria.
"Nigeria is bleeding and the hemorrhage must be stopped," Mr. Obasanjo said in the 18-page letter dated December 2, 2013.
He said Mr. Jonathan has failed to deliver on his promises to the Nigerian people, stem corruption, promote national unity and strengthen national security.
He said in the letter titled "Before it is too late" that rather than take steps to advance Nigeria's interest and up the standards of living of Nigerians, Mr. Jonathan had betrayed God and the Nigerian people that brought him to power, and has been pursuing selfish personal and political interests based on advice he receives from "self-centred aides".
