Two days after Paul Walker's death, the star most closely associated with him spoke out about the tragic loss.
On Monday evening, Vin Diesel posted a brief message and an on-set photo of himself and Walker to his over 52 million followers on Facebook:
"To live in the hearts we leave behind, is not to die." Thomas Campbell. Pablo, I wish you could see the world right now... and the profound impact, your full life has had on it, on Us... on me... I will always love you Brian, as the brother you were... on and off screen. |
Diesel's "Fast & Furious" co-star Michelle Rodriguez also responded to Walker's untimely death on Monday on Twitter, where she notably also referred to Walker has her "brother":
I'm gonna carry this torch for you brother, with a forced smile on my face and Im gonna open my heart just cause your telling me to.
It seems appropriate that the "Fast" stars would use such familial terminology, since the theme of family bonds recurs throughout the six previous installments of the franchise. Other stars of the racing series, including Dwayne Johnson, Ludacris and Sung Kang, also used the term "brother" when eulogizing Walker on their social network posts.
Missing my brother...
Like their characters in the movies, Diesel and Walker came from very different backgrounds with outlooks on life that seemed conflicting. In 2009 when the pair reunited for the fourth film, Walker himself said: "Our chemistry is that we don't have any chemistry... He's East Coast and I'm West Coast. We respect each other as human beings and that's about all it takes... We have two totally different approaches to this whole game."
The seventh "Fast & Furious" film was in production for a scheduled July, 2015 release when Walker was killed. Filming has been reportedly delayed, but there has been no official word on when or how it might continue.
The late actor's official Twitter account also posted on Monday afternoon that Walker's family requests those looking to honor his memory can make donations to his charity, Reach Out WorldWide. Walker had attended a fundraiser for the charity before his fatal accident.
In lieu of flowers or other gifts, Paul Walker's family asks that donations be made to his charity @ReachOutWW... http://on.fb.me/1cOPTmx
